What is Dressy Casual?

When I get an invitation to an event and it says "cocktail attire" or "business" I know exactly what to wear. But what does one wear to "dressy casual" the two styles seem to clash and I find myself struggling to find something that is appropriate. So after some event research below are some suggestions:

Look 1 {Blouse and Skirt}
A great pattern or shear blouse with some detail is a great option paired with a knee length skirt in a solid. Add a statement necklace to finish the look.

Look 2 {Wide Leg pants and Silk Shell}
Keeping a neutral black palette can add the "dressy" to a look, again finish with a necklace with a pop of texture and color.

Look 3 {Dress}
A cotton dress can lean more to the "casual" unless you chose a dress with added detail, try one with buttons or in this case sequins to bring the dress up a level.

Look 4 {Romper}
Typically a romper is also casual but if you chose a silk or higher-end fabric the look can definitely work. Add a jacket to give the look a polished feel.

Shoes {Mary Janes}
Each look can be paired with a classic black mary jane

3 Great Products in My Bag

I am not typically a very beauty product kind of girl, I try to keep that part simple and available from a drug store. So when I find something great, I am super excited, especially since its not overly expensive:

Burts's Bees Milk & Honey Lotion - actually works without leaving your hands greasy at all

benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow (birthday suit) - will not crease or get weird on your eye and is the perfect shade paired with a red lip

Maybelline DEFINE-A-LINE eyeliner - no need to sharpen, it twists to sharpen and is just soft enough to blend perfectly

First Look at Swim {One-Piece}

I am a major fan of one-pice bathing suits! I also really like 50's-style high waited bottoms, FAR more flattering at my age than most little tiny bikinis! Not to say I don't like a good little black triangle top here and there paired with just the right bottom but here are some of my fav one-piece options:

Girls Supper Club

Tonight was our second supper club and I really loved how relaxed and stress-free the night was. No cooking, no planning just good friends and take out with all our pups. Such a treat to catch up with friends, plan our upcoming trips, paint my nails, have a reason to pick up fresh flowers and end the night with chamomile tea while pulling inspiration from magazines for my board!

Mood Rings

As a child I loved mood rings! I am definitely a collector of rings, gifts from family, costume, antique, Target... I also have found that the one I chose and the number I wear at a time is pretty closely related to the mood I'm in. So rather than just one ring to reflect my mood I have a collection:
